WHY GET TESTED
There is a strong connection between diabetes, cholesterol, and heart health. Diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar levels, which can lead to various complications, including an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Cholesterol, a type of fat, plays a crucial role in the body's functioning. However, imbalances in cholesterol levels can contribute to the development of cardiovascular problems. High levels of LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol, often referred to as "bad" cholesterol, can lead to the accumulation of plaque in the arteries, narrowing them and increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke.
Managing cholesterol levels, maintaining blood sugar control, and adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle are crucial for individuals with diabetes to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Regular monitoring of lipid profiles, such as through a Lipids Panel, allows for early detection of any abnormalities and enables healthcare providers to implement appropriate interventions, including lifestyle modifications and medication, to protect heart health and manage diabetic complications effectively.
